Pelican

Pelicans are large, water-dwelling birds known for their distinctive long beaks and expandable throat pouches. These features allow them to scoop up fish, their primary diet. Found on every continent except Antarctica, pelicans thrive in coastal and freshwater environments.

Pelicans are social birds, often forming large colonies during nesting and feeding. They are excellent flyers, capable of soaring for hours using thermals to conserve energy. Despite their large size, pelicans are surprisingly agile in the air.

However, pelicans face challenges from pollution, habitat destruction, and overfishing, which reduces their food supply. Efforts to protect wetlands and ensure sustainable fishing practices are vital to their survival.
